I'm staying cool-mom about this for now. As long as J knows when to use proper English and when to use Singlish, I'm fine with Singlish. But we'll never know until she gets older so, fingers crossed.
I have to admit, though, that it's really funny hearing her say things like these:
When she's trying to get her Mickey Mouse toy to sit and it wouldn't, because it can't...
"Mickey Mouse, sit down huh."
When she is a little upset about the kiddy rides being unavailable and she really wants to sit on them...
"Korkor jiejie sit lor. TT cannot sit lor."
I don't know if she's trying to console herself or what but I know she's trying to control her tears. Side note: I hate the kiddy rides. I know I love them as a kid but as a mom now, I'd love to avoid them at all cost because the "I-wanna-just-sit-on-the-kiddy-ride" never ends.
When she acts coy while trying to insist on her point...
"Don't want lah."
"Can lah."
When we were looking at the jets flying past and there were no more of them...
"Only moon leh. Only bus leh. No airplane leh."
Okay, she's overdoing this one.
We are doing a pretty good job in raising a 100% Singaporean baby huh? ;)
