At 10 months and 17 days, she officially walked about two meters on the floor, unassisted. It's big for us because while J took her first steps a couple of weeks ago, she was apprehensive of doing so on the floor. This was the first time I saw her not persevering. For her past milestones like flipping, and standing, and cruising, she would be practising through day and night. I was a little disheartened then because what happened to my determined baby?
A week ago J walked pretty ok on my mum's bed. Unassisted. Pretty stable too. But the moment we place her feet on the ground, she wobbled then cautiously got on her fours.
Yesterday, my mummy decided to try it again. J could only manage about 5 steps between us before she sat down again.
Then my brother woke and magic happened. J walked to her favourite uncle, slowly and steadily. She even managed an extremely act-cute "hi" before she commenced, and stopped halfway to smile at him. It seemed like the uncle (or maybe his green tea bottle) was J's only motivation so we sat him there while J practised again and again.
Today she did longer distances and was so happy about it she didn't want to stop. By evening, she could do two meters unassisted. Even if she couldn't quite stand up on her own yet, she still did walk.
I'm happy my baby kind of hit a milestone.
I'm even happier she's willing to try and practise until she could do it on her own.
Can't wait to get her shoes!
(Good soft-soled ones that gives her support yet won't impede the growth.)
