Mother's Day this year is a little different...
This year, I too, celebrate Mother's Day.
And this year, I appreciate my mom even more.
I'm truly appreciative of what she has done for me but I'm not brave enough to say it to her so here's a letter to my Mommy. (Who probably won't see this because she doesn't read my blog.)
Dear Mommy,
Thank you so much for all you have done for me and my little girl.
You showed me what it is like to be a good wife, and a mother.
You are not very good with the English Language but I remember you copying out the questions we have done incorrectly into a journal just so we get more practice. I didn't appreciate it then. Which kid likes homework? But now I do.
You came over to help me with chores when I was pregnant because I couldn't move much at all.
Even when your wrist and back are hurting.
You helped me look after the little one when I needed to rest.
Even when you needed rest yourself.
You always put us before yourself.
This year, I aspire to be like you, Mommy.
A giving mom who treats all her children equally.
I love you Mommy.
I really do.

Love,
Your Daughter

Dear Baby,
You made me a mommy and changed my life forever.
You have been crying a lot lately and I'm not quite sure how I can make you feel better.
You also decided that you need to give me a present so on Mother's Day, you gave me explosive poop that soiled your clothes and the diaper changing mat. Thank goodness your Daddy is home.
All I want for you is to grow up healthily, my baby.
I love you.
Smooches and Cuddles,
Mommy

My very first Mother's Day celebration was simple.
We ate out at Peperoni's pizza on Saturday since we have been dying to try it out.
And for the first time, I didn't take pictures because we were too hungry and it's not easy trying to keep Baby seated.
Baby sat in the high chair for a second time (she usually stays in her stroller when we dine outside) and was mighty pleased about it.
She gobbled up her rice cereal while watching people over at the other table eat their pizza. She so wants that pizza.
She went "ah" to the ladies sitting at the table beside us when she saw that they too, were eating pizza.
It was funny watching her trying to get their attention.
On Mother's Day itself, Baby woke and gave me her widest sleepy smile - best present ever.
And the husband, who is usually very subtle, waved his hands while I was clearing the breakfast table and said "Happy Mother's Day".
It was barely a celebration over the weekend - the husband thought Mother's Day falls on the coming Sunday.
But nothing beats spending time with my two loved ones and knowing that they are happy.
