Go, find your friend.

J really loves cats.
When we head to grandma's place in the day, she's always on the lookout for cats in the neighbourhood. Her little eyes will go wide open as her face lights up in delight when she spots one. The cats? They don't seem as excited.

This was taken on one of our weekday walks with grandpa around the neighbourhood.

It's a little bright to see clearly but there were two cats - the one in the background just lying around (and it remained there the whole time we were there) and the one in the foreground, is an explorer. J and the explorer were having a little staring contest before the cat decided to go off. We watched it walk to the cars in the carpark, attempt to climb up a lorry and failed, scratched the tyres in the lorry, and explored the different parts of the car. It wasn't only fascinating to J, it was, to me as well. Because my little girl is also an explorer and I think they will make great friends. Of course that didn't happen.

At one point, we lost track of The Explorer, so J went to the quiet cat. Explorer was walking back to us and I heard J telling the quiet cat, "Go. Go find your friend..."

I was surprised because the last time I used "friend" on animals when talking to J, it was a few months back. We saw a mynah with an injured claw. It couldn't really fly and as the rest of the birds enjoyed their food, the injured one watched on. But before long, another one swooped down, bringing along some food for Injured. Being the excited mom, I exclaimed "Oooh! Its friend brought it food! Look!! How sweet is that?" (I think I said this story before.) J remembers!

J said that to Explorer too as it walked back to its spot.

5 minutes.
Void deck.
No planned activities.
But it seems that learning is taking place too.
