Even though Dr Lee said it wasn't necessary, we decided to go for the OSCAR scan anyway.
Just to be more assured.
I've heard about OSCAR scans taking a while but wasn't expecting mine to be too.
Baby wasn't very cooperative today. She was facing down! Rather impossible to go ahead with the scan because we couldn't see her nasal bone and measure her length.
We went ahead to collect my blood for the blood test.
Dr Lee had a rather tough time locating my veins and extracting my blood. Somehow the blood just didn't flow.
I was left with a blue-black and the hubby's heart broke. I think it did.
The hubby thought that since there were other patients, we should exit first and return later.
We took a 30 minute walk outside the clinic. I tried telling Baby a story in hope that she will change her position.
When we returned for the scan, it turned out that now, Baby was too relaxed (and outstretched) while resting on the placenta. Dr Lee couldn't get accurate measurements if Baby stretches like that. He was initially amused at Baby resting on the placenta, but after a while, I guess he wasn't. We kept trying to get Baby to move and we kind of succeeded after I turned my body to the sides. It took a long long time to get the measurement and capture the best possible shot of the nasal bone.
I had late lunch at Bedok South - fried carrot cake and had to brush my teeth a gazillion times over.
I'm still this sensitive to food...
Stats:
Mommy's weight: 52.0 kg
Update (07 May 2013)
The clinic called back with the OSCAR scan results. Finally! I'd been waiting.
All is fine and the results are good.
Phyllis (that sweet lady in the clinic) even checked on my progress with food, and assured me it's fine even though I'm only surviving on oatmeal and crackers now. :)
I thought that was really sweet.
