{Dear Baby} 6 months old. Already!

Dear Baby,
Happy 6 months old!
You're half a year old already!

The past one month had been quite a roller coaster ride. (Okay, a mini-baby-coaster ride.)
You made me laugh so hard, yet made me tear out my hair at the same time.

Milestones
We saw you meeting some milestones the past month.

You started on semi-solids (Aptamil Organic Rice Cereal your yiyi bought) and boy, are you enjoying it.
4 days to 6 months old, you decided that having milk for breakfast and lunch is too mainstream so you chose to drink only 40ml of milk in the morning, and refuse to have anything but rice cereal (that's the only semi-solid you've tried so far) for lunch.

You have also been working on your crawl for the past month.
It started from rocking forwards and backwards.
Then you move around leaping like a frog.
4 days to 6 months old (once again), you showed us that you could do a proper crawl when you see a 'target' in front of you.
Achievement unlocked!

The yoga mat that once prevented you from rolling over and hitting your head is now your favourite surface to scratch on.
Yes!
You are at the stage where you enjoy exploring textures.
You've scratched the net of the playpen, the yoga mat, the sofa, my skin, yiyi's very expensive bag.
It's time for some texture play.

And what makes me momma heart melt?
You finally, finally leaned on our shoulders.
It's a big milestone for Daddy and I, for you see, unlike most babies, you did not lean on our shoulders when you were little. Whenever we put you upright, you prefer to practise holding up your head, so nope, we didn't get to experience what that was like until now.
And it's the most wonderful feeling.

Babbles
We think you're going to grow up as talkative as Mommy is.
These are some sounds we frequently hear this month.

"Ah Boo."
"Boooooo..../Pooooooo,,,"
"Eh Mm"
"Ah moooo"
"Uh maaa"
"Meh meeeeee"

And like a typical Singaporean, you cry "Ai yah.." and "Ai yer..." when you are annoyed.

Love, love, love your voice.

You are also starting to sing while in the car. It's funny, really.

BUT...

Somehow, you stopped communicating your needs.
You don't babble when you soil your diapers, you no longer say "Ah Mmmm" or "ah.. greeeeee" when you want your milk, and you stopped giving the 'Superman' pose when you want cuddles.

You. simply. cry.

What happened, my Baby?

Play
Playtime is a lot more fun now.

You seem to take great interest in singing and dancing with me.
And have you got any favourite toys yet?
Here. The angry bird from yiyi who makes a special appearance when you throw tantrums.

Yiyi's penguin over at Popo's place used to be your favourite too.
Until the day you tore the tag off, that is.
It's been banished ever since.

Speaking of toys, you are showing more interest in your toys now. And the books you've got.
They are no longer white elephants.

Bath times have gotten more challenging now that you won't keep still in your tiny tub.
You decide when you want to lie on your back, kneel, sit up, and sometimes even stand.
In the tub.

*

The past one month has been really wonderful, albeit your constant need for attention.
And I'm not sure if you are teething but you sure do enjoy chomping on my chin.

I love you to bits, my baby.
Thank you for making me a Mommy.

Smooches and Cuddles,
Mommy
