Making Connections

It's interesting to watch how babies learn to make connections.

Two days ago, I took down the activity gym for Lil' J to play with. (Finally!)
She rolled over on her tummy, pivoted while exploring the mat, and attempted to crawl.
Can you imagine my delight when I first witnessed it?
My baby attempted to crawl!
I removed the activity gym and laid out yet another mattress for her.
Her eyes gleamed when she saw the space she would have and for the next couple of minutes, I just sat and watched as she attempted to advance forward.
She even managed to do the four-point kneel.
I was so darn proud of her.

Then yesterday, I took her to the BabySpa and she enjoyed herself, as usual, kicking and swimming away.

Today, I decided to let her try out the 'crawling' again.
I laid out two mattresses. She likes big spaces right?
Momma's gonna provide you with as much resources as I can.

BUT...

She did not attempt to crawl.
She got into what looked like a superman pose, held out her arms and kicked her legs.
We tried it for a few times, and each time I said, "Come to Mommy!", she kicked her legs excitedly.

She thinks she can move forward just like that!
We think she's confused herself with swimming.

-_-'"

I placed the play gym on the mattress, wondering if she would be able to make the connection.
Play gym = on land = crawl
or
Play gym = pretty mat to look at and explore = crawl

It worked.
