Flipped.

Dear Baby,

At three days to three months old, you've mastered your flip!

Daddy and Mommy are impressed with your perseverance - we are pretty sure we didn't get that from us. Even though you Daddy rationalises it as "negative and negative give positive."

Gong gong and Popo are also in awe of your determination. You never seem to give up!

Here's your 'flipping' timeline.

9 JAN Thursday
Your first attempt at flipping. You've turned your upper body before while seeking for your pacifier. But on this day, you spent 10 minutes or so trying to roll over.
Popo caught it on video.

Even though you will topple each time you almost succeed, you give a wide toothless smile and you seem pleased, as if knowing you will be succeeding soon.

Over the weekend
You practised everyday and over the weekend, you got better at it. Interestingly, you only practise after lunch. You can now flip with greater ease but your arms get stuck under your belly. So this is what became of your routine:

1. Roll over with arm(s) stuck, like a fish.
2. Manage to lift head.
3. Seem mighty pleased about lifting your head. You reward us with smiles at this time.
4. Realise your arms are stuck.
5. Struggle to free your arms. Love how you push up your little bum to do that.
6. Still stuck.
7. Get frustrated.
8. Cry for help.

13 JAN
The routines have not changed. Only that now, you are practising during every waking moment. The moment you are awake, you attempt to flip. Sometimes Mommy wonders if you are actually just wanting your pacifier but rolled over in the process, accidentally.

14 JAN (MORNING)
You are still trying to master your flip. You now flip over with ease, within 10 seconds. Your arms no longer gets stuck but one arm will be in a rather awkward position at your chest.

14 JAN (AFTERNOON)
You have mastered the flip!
Somehow you have learnt how to adjust your arms.
You like to push yourself up and I know you are feeling really proud of yourself.

You are still quite unsure on how to roll from your tummy to back though. But I'm sure you will figure that out soon enough.

14 JAN (RIGHT AFTER YOU FLIP)
You decided that rolling over is too mainstream and attempted to scoot/crawl.. Whatever they call that.

Oh, my Little Miss Ambitious!
Mommy is darn proud of you but do take your time too ok? I'll be one happy momma if you have that perseverance in whatever you do in future.
(Note: perseverance... Not stubbornness ok?)

Loads and loads so cuddles and smooches,
Mommy
